The North Face, Inc. is an American company specializing in manufacture of outdoor apparel, footwear and equipment. The company produces both clothing and equipment that are used both in extreme conditions such as hiking or desert travelling and clothing and equipment for normal conditions for climbers, skiers, snowboarders, hikers, athletes and everyday use. History of The North Face goes back to the mid-sixties of the last century. It began in one small company in San Francisco, California, which was engaged in the manufacture of outdoor equipment for all enthusiasts ready to explore new and new challenges. The founders of this company were two passionate athletes Douglas Tompkins and Kenneth Klopp, who co-founded a small store, which was given the name The North Face. The name was not chosen by chance, because it means "northern route". Among the climbers it is the steepest, ice-covered wall of mountains. Who will enter the north wall must overcome many challenges – as the company had to too. A radical turnaround in development of the company came in 1968, when The North Face® began developing and producing its own collection of functional clothing and equipment. Then it took the path of a modern and dynamic company, which began to indicate and promote modern and technological trends in outdoor environment. In the 80s of the last century, the product portfolio was expanded with a collection designed for extreme skiing. The North Face company is increasingly focusing on young people and their products and is closer to the urban fashion. However, excellent quality and functionality of products is maintained.
