Warren E. Avis founded in 1946 in the US city Detroit Avis Airlines Rent A Car System, which was the first company which rented cars from airports. During the 1950s, the company had expected a rapid expansion due to franchise licenses. In subsequent years, the company had introduced its unique reservation system Wizard. Since then, Avis continuously monitors current trends and use modern technology. Even though it is a company with a long history, its way of thinking definitely has not stayed in the last century. On the contrary, it thinks much to the future. Currently the company operates almost all around the world and it has branches in 175 countries. Avis operates most of its car rental offices in North America, Europe and Australia directly, and operates primarily through licensees in other parts of the world. Avis has Approximately 30,000 employees and is headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey. The aim of Avis is (and always has been) to become the leading car rental company and the principle of "We Try Harder" it projects into all its activities.
