Fashion brand Le Château was originally founded in 1959 as Le Chateau Men's Wear and it could be found at two locations in Montreal, Canada. The founder of this brand was Herschel Segal, who has decided to name its brand because of increasingly important French influences in Quebec. Le Château Men's Wear hadn´t originally been fashion-forward store - Segal himself described his customers as “old, blue-hair ladies” and in the offer was primarily overstock from his father's old store. Le Château Men's Wear had been quite successful brand since the beginning, and it hadn´t took a long time and three additional stores were opened. Despite that, in the early 60s the company filed for bankruptcy and Le Château Men's Wear stores were closed. Luckily, in 1962 the brand was opened again and new stores had new current name - Le Château. Also the offer of clothes had changed, newly latest European fashion had been imported. Le Château imported clothes from Carnaby Street in London, which was at that time the local fashion center. Segal even claimed that thanks to him at the time were the latest fashion trends from Europe earlier in Canada than in New York. Currently, Le Château is a specialty retailer and manufacturer of contemporary fashion apparel, accessories, and footwear at value pricing for style-conscious women and men of all ages. Le Château brand is sold exclusively through 211 retail locations across Canada. In addition, it has four stores under license in the Middle East.
